I’ve been a Hawkeye fan for as long as I can remember. I remember listening to games on the radio back even before I started going to school. I was separated from Iowa back in 1982 when we moved to Illinois for my dad’s new job. I never lost my ties to the Hawkeyes.
All through school I was convinced that I would be a point guard for Iowa. I attended the basketball camp every summer back when Tom Davis was the coach. I won one of the four Camp MVP awards in 1992.
I started on my varsity team but never learned how to dribble well enough to play guard in college and never grew past 6′2″.
About 17 years ago, about the time I started High School, the most amazing thing happened. My dad bought two season tickets that ended up being on the 38 yard line, front row on the visiting side. I’ve taunted just about every coach and player to come through the Big 10 over the years.
Since then, we’ve increased our tickets to 4. My sister and dad’s brother come to the games now with us.
During the reorg from the renovation project our seats were taken, but we ended up getting front row, 30 yard line on the home side now. Amazing. I can’t wait for the season to begin.
I’m planning on using this site to talk about Iowa Hawkeye sports, review the games, share old memories, learn what some of the old players are up to, and talk to you.
Since Iowa is part of the Big 10, there will be some general talk about the conference and the NCAA in general.
I’m also planning on starting a forum up when the season gets started.
Look forward to talking to you. If you come to a game, feel free to come find me in my seat. Once I see that exact ticket number, I’ll let you know where I’m at.
