The Hawkeyes have 29 turnovers so far this year. That is the most since 1994 and 8 more than any year Ferentz has coached at Iowa.

There were several games where turnovers simply killed any chance. I still remember Chandler fumbling the ball at the 50 when it looked like there was hope late in the game against Ohio State.

There were a total of nine turnovers in the losses to Northwestern, Wisconsin and Minnesota. You can’t convince me that the 5 turnovers against Minnesota and the 3 turnovers against Northwestern didn’t play a huge role in the losses.

Win those two game and we are 4-4 in the Big Ten and 8-4 on the year wick isn’t nearly as bad.

But, fixing that problem is easier said than done. The turnovers continued to mount throughout the year helping the team toward their 6-6 record.

Texas is a very good team. Hopefully, the long block of practice since the last game will help break the bad turnover cycle the team was in and give the Hawks a chance.
