Is Iowa ranked too high

Iowa is currently ranked number 4 in the BCS, number 8 in the people polls, and number 1 in the computer polls.

Are they ranked too high? Or maybe even too low?

Everybody seems to think that just squeaking by a couple of bad teams means that they should be ranked at the lower end of the top 10.

But when you factor in the big road wins and the Arizona game, it’s hard to find another team that has played as tough of a schedule and won their games. Iowa’s strength of schedule is rated pretty high this year with most of the hard games coming on the road. The teams like TCU, Texas and Cincinnati haven’t played anywhere near that difficult of a schedule.

Teams like Florida and Alabama are having their own troubles winning games convincingly.

And teams like USC, Oregon and LSU all have losses.

Also, consider that Iowa has zero bye weeks this year and that adds to the difficulty for their season.

So at this point as long as Iowa keeps winning, I think it is fair for Iowa to be ranked in the top 5. There’s still plenty of football for all of the teams in the top 10 to bounce around before this season is done.
